Oakhurst Learning Center has been a Voluntary Pre-Kindergarten Provider since the beginning of VPK in 2005. When it comes to having children prepared for kindergarten our scores of 80% or higher show that our knowledgeable staff do a fine job. We follow the Florida Pre-Kindergarten Standards Guide, the Creative Curriculum and the APPLE Standards program.
2 and 3–year-old
Our 2 and 3 year old program takes place in a structured, planned learning environment. This also takes into account the individuality of the young child as they take their first steps in social situations. All are main teachers have a CDA or Associates Degree in Early Childhood Development and many years of experience working with young children.
The center provides before and After Care for Bauder and Oakhurst Elementary Schools. The vehicle we use is a Thomas School bus. We also provide a summer camp program filled with fun field trips all over Pinellas County. What makes our facility unique for school age children is our large nature like playground space designed just for them.

March was a very busy month!! We sent a nice $600.00 check to St. Jude’s Hospital from our art show funds. THANK YOU ALL!
Most families returned the registration forms for summer and fall and now we are taking in the new students for upcoming summer and fall sessions.
Dr. Seuss week was a very successful week and most enjoyable, Thank you Mrs. Ashley and Mrs. Ahern.
We are sorry no one found the pot of gold on St. Patrick’s Day!
Playground report: Most new equipment has arrived and the final piece will be installed in April.
Front Entry: You may have noticed the gates on the front patio. When completed this will be a swinging child gate. Oakhurst is always looking for ways to make things safer around here. PLEASE do not feel comfortable to let them be out in front without you. This is also a good time to remind all about not leaving your car running in the parking lot and it is policy to shut off your phone when entering the front door.
Improvements: We are attempting to finish the surfacing on the two year old playground and the final install of the climber on the 4 year old climber.
