Dear VPK Parents,

Once again thank you all for choosing Oakhurst Learning Center for your child’s Pre-Kindergarten year.

We are off to a good start. There is lots of confusion the first few weeks, but in time we work out all the details. I spoke with the teachers and we have compiled a list of requests and good ideas

Please do not bring in any backpacks or lunch boxes. There is no real room for these in the classroom. The children do eat the same snacks provided and we encourage this. We are unable to serve personal snacks.

Please have your child here on time. The start of VPK is 8:45 A.M. and the pick up for VPK only is 11:45. A.M. If you are interested in a full time slot you may see Mrs. Stephan. Please bring all children 5 minutes sooner and instruct them to wash hands in therir classroom before starting.
If you enter the room while the teacher is in circle time, please enter quietly not to disturb the lesson going on, but still have your child wash their hands.

Please pay attention to your teacher’s parent boards and doors. These things change weekly and you do not wish to miss important dates or events for your child.
No medication is allowed in your child’s cubbie please. If you have any questions please see Mrs. Stephan or Mrs. Hall. This includes, hand creams, sanitizers, lip balm, etc.

Staff members park their cars in the dirt parking lot so that you can use the front lot. We would rather you use this for your child’s safety.

There are two sign in books now for VPK. A thru M and N thru Z. This I hope will help with traffic control at the front desk. You may also bring your child to class first if the books are busy with parents signing. As you exit the building you may sign then. This too will help with traffic control.

Please remember Mrs. Stephan needs your child’s Immunizations and Physicals ASAP or No later than September 24th.

Thank You,

Mrs. Hall

Oakhurst Learning Center provides children with a
       caring,
              safe, and
                     secure
environment
that utilizes a child-centered curriculum. This curriculum is based on the emotional,
physical, social and cognitive needs of the individual child. The developmental needs of
the child are used to determine appropriate activities carried out with that child.
Because children grow and develop at different rates, this approach offers them
the opportunity to explore each area of development at their own pace.

Our Purpose:

The purposes of Oakhurst Learning Center are to support our community families,
and to provide quality programs. To accomplish these ends Oakhurst Learning Center
provides a safe, consistent and enriched environment where developmentally appropriate
activities encourage exploration and "hands on" learning.

Meet the Director:

Janny Stephan has been working at Oakhurst Learning since 1982, and has been the Director since 1995.
Previous to Oakhurst Learning, she had a Nursery School in the Netherlands for 12 years.

Meet the Owners:

Lisa and Richard Hall bought Oakhurst Learning Center from the previous owners in January of 1997.
They have since completely renovated Oakhurst Learning - completed in 2005 - bringing the site up to
current standards. They truly enjoy creating environments where children can learn and grow, and are very
proud of their staff.
